KTU Faculty Member Takes a Step Toward International Collaboration

Assistant Professor Tuğba Topal, a faculty member of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science, Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), successfully completed a 60-day training program in the United States at Oakland University as part of the European COST Action CA21151 – HAPLO iPS project.
During the training, human pluripotent stem cell culture was successfully carried out on novel polymer surfaces developed for clinical applications. She also received advanced training in techniques related to the generation of retinal, intestinal, and cardiac organoids. In addition to its scientific gains, this training also led to the initiation of Erasmus+ collaborations, helping to strengthen international academic networks. Protocols were also prepared to enable the transfer of the knowledge and experience gained during the training to KTU.
This program is of great importance not only in terms of technical achievements, but also in laying the groundwork for scientific collaborations that will help shape the future.
