Associate Professor Natavan Bahşaliyeva, a faculty member in the Department of Genetics at Baku State University, conducted scientific research studies in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) between July 16 and August 13, 2025.

In the study carried out together with Associate Professor Murat Erdem Güzel, a faculty member in our department, Bahşaliyeva aimed to reveal the genetic polymorphism of members of the genus Diospyros L. (Ebenaceae) distributed in Azerbaijan based on ISSR and SCoT markers, and to examine their phylogenetic relationships according to the nrDNA ITS marker.

The study is expected to make an important contribution to understanding the genetic diversity and evolutionary relationships of Diospyros species in the flora of Azerbaijan.
