Associate Professor Murat Erdem Güzel in Germany Within the Scope of an International Research Project

Associate Professor Murat Erdem Güzel, a faculty member in our department, traveled to Germany to carry out research activities abroad within the scope of the BAP05 – International Research Project. The project led by Associate Professor Güzel, titled “Distribution and Evolution of Crepidinae: Studies on the Biogeography, Character Evolution, and History of the Largest Subtribe of Cichorieae,” aims to comprehensively examine the evolutionary and biogeographical processes of Crepidinae, the largest subtribe of the Cichorieae tribe.

The research will be conducted at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin at Freie Universität Berlin, which is ranked 104th in the World University Rankings. Within the scope of the project, Associate Professor Güzel will carry out studies in collaboration with Dr. Norbert Kilian, Dr. Konstantina Koutroumpa, and Prof. Dr. Kamil Çoşkunçelebi.

This research activity, which will run from January 2026 to July 2026, is of great importance in terms of strengthening our department’s international scientific collaborations and making significant contributions to the fields of evolutionary biology and biogeography.
